Why Westech

On the ground operators delivering measurable results across the full project lifecycle.

Westech delivers engineering, infrastructure and operational capability from early-stage feasibility through to design, construction, commissioning and long-term performance.

01

Owner-operator experience

Westech has designed, built, owned and operated the kinds of assets it now consults on, through four decades of work in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

02

Access to capital through the Wesson Group

Lionsbridge, Westech's sister company, has raised over US$800M for natural resource and energy projects in the Group's portfolio. When engineering needs financing alongside it, the introduction is internal.

03

Proven turnaround capability

Distressed operations stabilised and returned to production with measurable outcomes. Loss-making to profitable inside eighteen months at Mineral Hill. Care-and-maintenance to first gold pour in eighteen months at Otso. Dormant US$200k shell to US$110M producer at Woulfe.

04

Local capability as standard

2,800+ local operators trained through the project portfolio. At Vatukoula, the workforce was rebuilt to a fully Fijian operating team. At Woulfe, Fijian crews were deployed to train Korean teams.

05

Designed for long-term production

Engineered controls before procedural ones. Best-available technology over lowest-cost. Closure designed at feasibility, not retrofitted at end of life.

Operator-led, vertically integrated capability

A consolidated team of resources and energy specialists with hands-on experience from design to optimisation.

Westech's expertise spans gold, complex sulphides, uranium, base metals, tungsten, LNG and renewables, with hands-on experience in each.

13 metals · Multiple processing routes · Complex infrastructure systems · Remote and technically demanding environments
01 / DISCIPLINE

Early Works & Feasibility

Westech picks up projects at the earliest, most ambiguous phase, when the right technical questions determine whether capital is deployed well. The same team carries projects from commodity thesis and exploration supervision through fully compliant feasibility studies, permitting and Competent-Person sign-off, and on to site mobilisation, access roads and bulk earthworks. The work that decides whether construction starts on schedule.

IncludesProject identification & commodity market insights · Exploration programme design & supervision · Scoping, PFS, DFS & BFS (JORC / NI 43-101) · Permitting & government relations · Competent Person & Qualified Person reports · Due diligence & project reviews · Site mobilisation, access roads & bulk earthworks · Temporary camps, initial power and water reticulation

Mine Design and Development

Westech has development and operational experience from surface open-cut to 3.5 km below surface, including hoisting, refrigeration, ice plants and fire prevention. At Woulfe, a 7 m-diameter adit was developed for bulk mining. At Vatukoula, operations sustain at 2,400 m depth and 65°C face temperature.

IncludesResource definition & 3D block modelling · Open-cut & underground mine planning · Shaft sinking & refurbishment · Ventilation, refrigeration & ice-plant design · Mine hoist specification, redesign & commissioning · Grade control & reconciliation · Geotechnical assessment & ground support · Mining risk assessment & safety engineering
03 / DISCIPLINE

Metallurgy and Process Engineering

From gold CIL, CIX uranium and BIOX refractory treatment through to tungsten APT, sulphuric acid plants and LNG cryogenics. Process plants are designed and commissioned in-house. At Otso, the plant was commissioned at 95% recovery on a 1.2 g/t head grade.

IncludesGold processing & large-scale CIL / CCD recovery · Complex sulphides & refractory ore treatment · Uranium: resin, leach, SX/EW and CIX · Nickel / cobalt dissolution & separation · Copper leaching, SX/EW & poly-metallic processing · Tungsten oxide flotation & APT production · Sulphuric acid plants · Lead, zinc & silver concentration and flotation

Infrastructure and Energy Systems

Remote resource projects demand self-sufficient infrastructure. The energy division has delivered diesel, coal and gas-fired plants, renewable plus storage hybrids, run-of-river hydro and green-hydrogen / ammonia systems. At Vatukoula, that meant a 20 MW diesel power station underwriting production continuity at depth.

IncludesRemote power stations (diesel / coal / gas / hybrid) · Solar, wind & grid-scale battery storage · Run-of-river & penstock hydropower · Green hydrogen & ammonia facilities · 22 kV reticulation & electrical instrumentation · Large compressor stations & cross-country conveyors · Accommodation villages, roads & logistics · Desalination, potable water & sewerage
05 / DISCIPLINE

EPC and EPCM Project Delivery

Westech delivers EPC and EPCM end-to-end across mining, processing, energy and site infrastructure. The same engineers who design the plant carry it through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. At Otso, that meant first gold pour within 18 months of taking control. At Mineral Hill, a 500,000 tpa gold plant was designed and constructed in 12 months.

IncludesEPC delivery, end-to-end · EPCM with operator-on-secondment · Detailed engineering & process design · Procurement & long-lead-item management · Construction management & site supervision · Commissioning & ramp-up · Handover to operations · Project management & cost control

Environmental and Water Management

Tailings dams up to 78 m high, engineered for 0.5 m/s ground acceleration in tropical high-rainfall regions. Water management extends from 60 ML/day process circuits through HDS, wetlands and delta stacks. The first fully contained cyanide mixing and management system was installed within the CIL bund at Mineral Hill.

IncludesTailings storage facilities (conventional, dry-stack) · Backfill & paste plant design · Large water handling (up to 60 ML/day) · HDS, wetland, delta-stack & thickener systems · Cyanide, arsenic, acid & asbestos handling · Air, water & biodiversity monitoring · Heavy-metals remediation & wetland management · Mine closure & rehabilitation planning
07 / DISCIPLINE

Operations and Maintenance Systems

Westech takes accountability for steady-state production. Specific expertise in rescuing loss-making operations: fixing grade control, debottlenecking processing plants, rebuilding workforces and installing the management systems that sustain improvement. At Mineral Hill, a US$20M annual loss was reversed to a US$35M annualised profit within 18 months.

IncludesTurnarounds & debottlenecking · Maintenance planning & reliability systems · Recruitment & workforce development · Training & certification programmes · ERP & DCS control-system implementation · Continuous improvement & lean methodologies · Performance reporting & KPI systems · Operator-on-secondment
08 / DISCIPLINE

Stakeholder and Community Integration

Local hiring is the default. Operating capability is built into the host workforce from project mobilisation. At Vatukoula, the underground workforce was rebuilt to a fully Fijian operating team. At Woulfe, experienced Fijian crews were deployed to train Korean teams.

IncludesStakeholder & community engagement plans · Landowner agreements & social impact studies · Local skills centres & training partnerships · Government relations & traditional-owner partnerships · Workforce localisation programmes · Grievance mechanisms & host-government reporting · ESG reporting & governance integration · Knowledge transfer & cross-site secondments
